The voice in the darkness…

Written by Muiz Rana

Still.Quiet.It was as if nothing could break the silence. The wind nipped my face leaving an ominous touch. Looking around I saw nothing, nothing but darkness looming over me. The alley-way was so narrow I felt as if it would squish me to bits. There was not even a pinch of light to break the dark. There was no hope…

An echo. What possibly could’ve possibly broke the silence? It was growing louder and louder by the second, its rasping sound bringing pain to my soul, it stated “You don’t belong here, go home. It’s for your best” adding “Or else…” What does he mean? I’m just hearing things. This can’t possibly be real. I tried running but my feet stayed glued to the spot, as motionless as a lizard. My screams dried on my lips. My instincts told me the voice was coming closer, there really was no time. The voice went round and round in my head ” Or else or else or else…

Something clutched me and it all went black.
